Lotify

    Lotify vs BCA

The BCA alternative for dealers who'd rather skip the auction hall

BCA is the UK's largest vehicle remarketing business — a network of physical auction centres and a sizeable online platform. For volume sourcing and fleet disposal, it's hard to match. But the shape of the auction model — travel, timed bidding, condition uncertainty, fees layered on both sides of every deal — doesn't suit every type of trade. Lotify takes a different approach: post what you want, have verified dealers respond directly with matching stock, negotiate in chat, and pay nothing to Lotify on the transaction itself.

    What BCA does well

    • The stock pool is enormous. BCA handles the majority of UK fleet returns, major manufacturer remarketing, and cross-border stock. If you need a specific spec and you're willing to wait for it to appear in a sale, it will.
    • Physical auction centres. For higher-value vehicles, pre-sale viewing still matters, and BCA's footprint means there's usually a centre within a couple of hours of anywhere in the UK.
    • Assured products. BCA Assured gives buyers some post-sale protection on condition, which is meaningful when you can't inspect every vehicle yourself.
    • Specialist categories. Commercials, HGVs, imports, and ex-leasing stock are all well-served. Niche categories that no direct-trade network can match on breadth.

    Where dealers commonly struggle

Recurring feedback from dealers we've interviewed and from public trade forums:

    • Travel and timing overhead. Even with online sales, serious sourcing tends to need someone at the centre — staff cost, fuel cost, and time out of the business for every run.
    • Bid wars against larger groups. Franchised groups with deeper pockets routinely out-bid independents on retail-ready stock. The auction format makes that conflict unavoidable.
    • Fees on both sides. Once you layer buyer fees, seller fees, assurance premiums, and transport on top of the hammer price, the total cost drifts well above CAP.
    • Condition surprises on smaller stock. Lower-value cars don't always get the same condition reporting rigour. When an issue surfaces post-sale, the resolution path can be slower than buying from a known dealer directly.
    • Auction schedule rigidity. Sales run on BCA's clock, not yours. If you're prepping a forecourt for the weekend and the right car is in a Tuesday sale, you either wait a week or pay to transport post-sale.

    How Lotify is different

No auction hall, ever. Everything happens in the app or browser. No travel, no viewing windows, no fixed sale times. You post a wanted card when you need stock; dealers with matching stock respond.

Reverse-marketplace flow. Instead of trawling through a catalogue hoping the right spec shows up, you describe the car you need — make, model, year range, mileage, budget — and the network tells you who has one. The sourcing effort goes to them, not you.

No transaction fees. Lotify takes nothing from the price. You agree the number in direct messages, the money moves between you and the other dealer, Lotify isn't in the middle of the transaction.

Photos, videos, voice notes in every conversation. Condition visibility comes from the other dealer, direct and in writing. Ask for a walkaround video before you commit. The evidence of what was represented sits in the chat history if anything ever needs revisiting.

Trade-only network. Every account is approved individually before it gets access. Consumer enquiries don't leak in. You're always talking to another verified UK motor dealer.

When to use BCA vs Lotify

These aren't really competitors — they're different tools for different jobs. Honest read:

    Use BCA when

    • • You need ex-fleet / ex-lease stock at volume
    • • You're sourcing commercials, HGVs, or specialist categories
    • • You're happy to attend auction centres in person
    • • You need bulk stock moved on a known timeline

    Use Lotify when

    • • You know the specific car you need
    • • You want to move part-exchanges without fee drag
    • • You'd rather not send staff to an auction
    • • You prefer negotiating to bidding
    • • You want transactions fee-free between dealers

Most Lotify dealers still use BCA for specific jobs. The two work alongside each other, not against each other.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Lotify a replacement for BCA?

Not a direct replacement. BCA handles fleet volume, specialist categories, and physical auction sourcing in a way a direct-trade network isn't designed for. Lotify is built for the targeted, one-off, no-fee trades that sit awkwardly inside the auction model.

How do Lotify's fees compare to BCA's buyer and seller fees?

Lotify charges a flat monthly subscription after a 90-day free trial. There are no buyer premiums, seller commissions, or percentage fees on any deal. The price you agree between dealers is the price that moves.

Can I see the vehicle before I commit, like I would at a BCA centre?

Yes. Every Lotify conversation supports photos, videos, voice notes, and text. Request a walkaround video, specific panel shots, engine-bay photos, or arrange a physical visit if you need one. Because the other party is a verified dealer, arranging an in-person view is usually a five-minute conversation.

What happens if a car isn't as described?

Because Lotify deals are direct between two verified dealers, resolution is between you. The full message history — including any photos or notes exchanged — is preserved as evidence. Lotify can remove dealers who repeatedly misrepresent stock; we don't run an assurance product in the way BCA Assured does, because we're not in the transaction.

Do I have to leave BCA to use Lotify?

No. Most dealers on Lotify still hold BCA accounts for fleet and specialist sourcing. There's no contractual conflict, and the two tools cover genuinely different sourcing jobs.

Is there a minimum number of dealers I'll be visible to?

When you post a wanted card, it's visible to every approved dealer on the network — not just those in your region. Responses tend to come from dealers closest to you first, because that keeps delivery costs low on deals that complete.

Source stock without the auction run

90-day free trial. No card required. Post a wanted card, describe the car you need, and find out who has it — without leaving the forecourt.
